The MagnaMole, as seen on Dragons Den, quickly threads wires and cables through solid walls, cavity walls and void spaces.

The MagnaMole is used to dramatically speed up the task of passing practically any cable or wire from one side of a wall through to the other side of the wall. TV (coaxial), satellite, audio, telephone, electrical and security cables can all be fitted through walls with ease. MagnaMole prevents the common problems of not being able to locate the hole on the other side (due to the cable still bending after being taken off a reel, other cables being in the way or wall insulation fibres causing an obstruction).

The MagnaMole consists of two main items – a magnetic rod and a threading magnet. To start with, a hole is drilled through the wall to pass the cable or wire through. The MagnaMole rod is put through this hole so it passes completely through the wall. The MagnaMole rod has a rare earth permanent magnet at the end. To the end of the wire or cable to be passed through the hole is connected a MagnaMole cap (the MagnaMole cap is screwed onto the cable or wire to hold it in place). There are five sizes of MagnaMole cap, allowing connection to cable or wire of a thickness from 3.7mm to 6.6mm; the cap is matched to the cable or wire size. For thicker cables, such as twin and earth, the outer core is stripped off to allow the MagnaMole cap to be connected. Like the end of the MagnaMole rod, the end of each MagnaMole cap is also magnetic.
The MagnaMole rod and MagnaMole cap are magnetically connected together by the rare earth magnets (the NdFeB magnets are supplied by e-Magnets UK; they deliver maximum performance for minimum size). The cable or wire that has been screwed onto the MagnaMole cap is then pushed into the hole in the wall. The MagnaMole rod guides the cable or wire through the wall and out via the second hole in the other side of the wall. Once through the wall, simply disconnect the MagnaMole rod from the MagnaMole cap and unscrew the MagnaMole cap to continue working with the cable or wire. Due to the innovative method applied in MagnaMole, the damage to and wastage of cable and wire is minimised saving both time and money.

The MagnaMole system can be used in solid walls or cavity walls. In fact, the MagnaMole system is applicable in any environment where putting in cables and wires could be tricky. And to assist with making the putting the MagnaMole rod through the second hole easier, the MagnaMole rod is fluorescent. And, for wider wall sections, extender rod sections each containing magnets at the ends, can be used to increase the length of the MagnaMole rod by an extra 28 inches (71cm). Two of the kits contain a masonry drill bit. The top of the range MagnaMole kit has a 10mm Professional SDS Drill Bit (total bit length of 40cm) included in the package.

The MagnaMole system allows the cables to be inserted through walls at an angle and can be used where the holes are offset by a small amount.

The demonstration of the patent protected MagnaMole, as shown on Dragons Den, highlights the cost saving (and time saving) to be had from using the MagnaMole. The brilliance of the MagnaMole design ensures speed and accuracy with quickly interchangeable screw caps for threading a variety of cable sizes through walls with little or no cable wastage. The MagnaMole is truly a highly effective magnetic cable guide.
