An Introduction to Iron Filings

Iron Filings are ferromagnetic. They are attracted to magnetic fields and congregate (collect together with a higher density) where magnetic fields are stronger. Iron filings can therefore be used to map magnetic fields.

We offer 12 ounces (about 340 grams) of iron filings in an easy-to-dispense jar for general purpose use.

We also offer the iron filings sealed within a 3.25" (nearly 83mm) diameter tray which is designed for use as a magnetic field viewer. The viewer Includes two tester magnets.
